Placr's Transport API
Placr's Transport API is an aggregation and analytics service for UK public transport, designed to offer users, developers and operators access to transport data-as-a-service (DaaS). Our Transport API includes timetables, routes, live running and performance history and serves this information out in the following ways:
- free on the web e.g. grid timetables for London tube (no longer published by TfL)
- as a machine-readable developer feed through transportapi.com
- as managed B2B services to operators and regulators based on placr.mobi
Placr aggregates data from national services such as Traveline and also for London and regional services, for example for the data sets published by the GLA London DataStore. We cover all modes of transport for which data is available including local buses, rail, metro services e.g. London Docklands Light Railway, as well as river/ferry services.
Apps and services based on Placr feeds include:
- UK TravelOptions app for iOS with highly interactive 2D and 3D maps overlaid with transport information and points of interest from OpenStreetMap (with FasterImaging)
- BusMapper London for iPhone and Android with interactive bus journey planning for London with live bus departures from TfL Countdown (with Azdev)
- Train Radar, a web app showing light rail timetables including the Croydon Tramlink
- Tube Radar, a web app showing live tube departures and timetables from TfL Trackernet and including the performance dashboard map
- placr.mobi, a web app with bus times and maps from the Traveline NextBuses API and Traveline timetables that covers the UK, which can be re-branded for operators and local authorities
