OpenTravel

The OpenTravel Project is developing a platform that will give developers access to real time and historic travel information covering public and private transport through one API.

Currently, developers have to poll multiple sources to get real time travel information, then cache it and finally match the locations and services to each other. OpenTravel is developing an integrated service for LBS developers based on a consistent geography and timeline that is scaleable to large datasets and high transaction rates. OpenTravel will be pilotted for Greater London and will cover road traffic speeds and public transport timing.
